Master Tamano Toshio was born in Tokyo on September 14, 1942.

After studying various martial arts, in 1960 begins practicing Goju-Ryu Shorei-Kan under the guidance of Master Toguchi Seikichi.

After graduating in architecture from the University of Tokyo, Shihan Tamano decides to devote his life to study and spread the Shorei-Kan.

Shihan Tamano also studied the Okinawan Kobudo with Master Shimpo Matayoshi  and, in recent years, with Master Eisuke Akamine.

In 1969 he moved to the United States and during his stay he develops a teaching system of Kobudo more appropriate than the traditional one to the need for disclosure of the art: the Kobudo Shorei-Kai.

After 13 years in New York, he moved to Milan to teach Shorei-Kan and Kobudo in Europe too.

Today he lives in Sciez, France, where he continues his work of spreading the Kaisai-Do, Kobudo and Daruma Taiso, holding internships worldwide.

He is the author of numerous publications and personally supervises the organization Shorei-Kan Europe.
